Study Without Stress Workshop 22 November 2019

Study Without Stress: a cognitive behavioural therapy program for year 12 students

Presented By: Professor Viviana Wuthrich and Dr Carly Johnco

This one day training will enable psychologists, teachers and school counsellors to implement the Study Without Stress program within a school environment or in a clinical setting. The program has its theoretical basis in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and is designed to specifically target difficulties many students have in coping with the building stress during Years 11 and 12. The program can be completed by students during or outside of classes in one school term and is ideal for students already experiencing high stress levels.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is open to psychologists, school counsellors and teachers in a wellbeing/mental health support role (e.g. pastoral care teacher), and other mental health workers with relevant qualifications and experience.

Professor Viviana Wuthrich
Professor Wuthrich’s research focuses on the understanding and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in children, adolescents and older adults. She has developed a number of manualised and computerised treatment programs for children and older adults that have been shown to be efficacious in randomised controlled trials including the Study Without Stress Program, Cool Kids Anxiety Management Program, Cool Teens and Chilled Out computerised programs for anxious adolescents, and the Ageing Wisely program for comorbid anxiety and depression in older adults.

Dr Carly Johnco
Dr Johnco’s research is focused on understanding and treating anxiety and related disorders in youth and older adults. Her research has three main streams: 1) understanding the mechanisms that contribute to the development of anxiety, including neurocognitive and learning mechanisms, 2) identifying age-relevant factors that maintain anxiety and related conditions, and 3) whether we can use our knowledge of the mechanisms that underpin anxiety to enhance our treatments.
