Associate Professor Maria Kangas is a registered Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor in Psychology and the Director of the Master of Clinical Psychology training program in the Department of Psychology and Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University, Sydney. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of stress (including PTSD), anxiety and mood disturbances in medical and trauma populations. She has worked with various populations in clinical, research and consulting roles. She has also developed and tested psychological treatments based on cognitive and behavioural therapy approaches with distressed populations. More recently she has extended her research to investigating emotion regulatory processes and the treatment of somatic health complaints and emotion regulation deficits in distressed youth.
