Dr Ella Oar completed her undergraduate training, followed by a Doctor of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University. After her professional doctorate she travelled to the United States and undertook a research fellowship with Distinguished Professor Thomas Ollendick at the Child Study Centre, Virginia Tech where she was trained in the delivery of intensive treatments for child specific phobia and OCD. Upon returning to Australia she commenced a PhD examining Blood-Injection-Injury phobia in youth. Ella’s PhD involved the first controlled trial internationally for children and adolescents with this debilitating disorder. Her PhD papers have been accepted in prestigious international journals. In addition to her PhD research Ella has worked with national and international collaborators, to conduct several cutting-edge clinical trials exploring innovative methods to enhance cognitive behavioural treatments for anxious youth. She is currently a postdoctoral fellowship with Distinguished Professor Ron Rapee, at the Centre for Emotional Health.
